… a term used in the Atlas Framework
Merriam-Webster defines term as a word or a phrase that has an exact meaning.
Terms vs concepts
Term is used in the Atlas to refer to a word or phrase for which it is useful to offer a succinct definition, but not with the amount of detailed description warranted by a word or phrase that is deemed to be a Concept.
If warranted, a term can be “promoted” to a concept, in which case it appears on the Atlas in slightly different page format, most visibly including with an image.
Terms are listed with concepts in the Concepts and Terms database.
Terms that are used in the exposition of core concepts are called core terms. See Defining Core.
