Policy Sectors
… one of the four subject-matter domains in public management
Domain description
Policy Sectors is one of four subject-matter domains used in the Atlas to map the field of public management.
This domain has 16 subjects: Macroeconomic Policy; International Development; Public Finance and Social Policy; Health; Education; Employment, Labour, and Immigration; Cities, Urban, and Regional Development; Environment and Sustainability; Agriculture and Resources; Science, Technology, and Innovation; Industry, Trade, and Investment; Energy, Transport, and Infrastructure; Defence, Security, and Foreign Relations; Policing and Justice Administration; Arts and Culture; Financial Markets.
Policy Sectors can be thought of as a specific practice domain (in contrast with a general preparation domain such as Analysis and Skills) because subjects and topics within it tend to be focused on specific policy areas, often associated with sectoral ministries responsible for policy execution.
