Analysis and Skills

… one of the four subject-matter domains in public management

tools and skillsDomain description

Analysis and Skills is one of four subject-matter domains used in the Atlas to map the field of public management.

This domain has seven subjects: Policy Analysis and ProcessImplementation and Delivery; Economic Analysis; Quantitative Methods; Analytic Methods; Leadership Skills; and Communication Skills.

Analysis and Skills can be thought of as a general preparation domain because it is not focused on a specific management function or policy area. Subjects in Analysis and Skills tend to have a “how to” orientation, whereas subjects and topics in the other general preparation domain, Institutions and Context, tend to have a “why does” orientation.
